Two chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Katsina and Gombe states, Senator Ibrahim Idah and Alhaji Farouk Bamusa, have moved to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Daily Sun reports that the defection occurred at the weekend.
Before his cross-carpeting, Idah represented Katsina Central Senatorial District under the PDP and belonged to the Senator Ahmed Markafi’s faction of the PDP.
On his part, Bamusa, who was a founding member of the PDP in Gombe that once contested in the governorship primaries in 2011, announced his defection to the APC in his ward in Kwami town.
He moved with thousands of his supporters.
Also at the weekend, not fewer than 1,000 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in the Eket Federal Constituency and Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Punch reports that the defection is believed to be part of political realignments ahead of the 2019 general election.
